We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Equipment in MMM. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Vancouver, British Columbia.Worley is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with experience in sizing, selection, preparing specifications, purchasing, installation, inspection, testing, and operation of mechanical equipment in mining, metals, and minerals (MMM) processing plants, as well as leading mechanical engineering teams on projects. The Senior Engineer plays a critical role in project execution, vendor coordination, and technical decision-making. In Worley Canada East, you will report to the Manager of the Mechanical and Piping Engineering Department, and you will work on various minerals, mining, and metals projects with the rest of the project team and customers while upholding Worley’s standards for safety and technical excellence.Self-motivated individuals with a desire to solve complex engineering problems, who show effective team leadership and communication skills will be ideally suitable for this role.Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level mechanical engineering involvement in projects from concept to completion, and make expert contributions in equipment selection, system integration, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate sizes and specifications for mining, metals, and minerals processing equipment.
  • Ensure all designs and technical specifications meet industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  • Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley’s, its customers’, and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Contribute to technical and value engineering studies.
  • Prepare technical specifications, data sheets, and vendor drawings and data requirements (VDDR) for mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare project scopes of work and equipment RFQs (Requests for Quotation).
  • Perform technical bid evaluations leading to a recommendation and ultimate purchase of the equipment or selection of contractors.
  • Perform engineering calculations with regard to sizing the equipment.
  • Liaise, where needed, with suppliers during the purchase of equipment.
  • Be familiar with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Review shop drawings and attend inspections as required.
  • Identify and report changes to study/project scope.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
  • Stamp project deliverables (if required).
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Participate in regulatory audits, client meetings, and quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations.
  • Multi-office work with project teams in other Worley offices may occur across different time zones, so working outside standard hours may be required.
  • Occasional field walkdowns in operating plants and construction sites with regard to project tasks may be required. This may require short land or air travel to other cities and countries for site visits and project coordination.

  • Work with other disciplines; understand the engineering sequence and workflow; and work with the customer on design reviews.
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in high-stakes, regulated environments.
  • Commitment to design excellence, safety compliance, and client satisfaction.
  • Experience in piping engineering is a strong asset.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant MMM experience.
  • Registered as Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $125,970 to $170,430
