Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager for a client in the construction industry to oversee financial operations and ensure the accuracy of the organization's accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing financial systems, streamlining processes, and leading a team to achieve operational excellence. This role is based in Toronto and offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's financial health.Responsibilities:
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, HST and T2 tax filings, audits, and internal controls.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify improvements, and make recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, and budgets.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department heads.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital, ensuring optimal cash management.
  • Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Train and mentor team members, fostering growth and ensuring high performance.
  • Coordinate audits and ensure readiness for financial reviews.
  • Evaluate and implement improvements to internal control systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • 5+ years' progressive experience in accounting and tax, preferably in real estate or property management.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and relevant accounting standards.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar accounting/property management software.
  • Proven experience in managing accounting functions, including payroll and accounts payable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
