
Biorepository Technician I

- Performs inventory management to include receiving, assessment, storage, transferring, and distribution of medical specimens/devices.
- Adheres to strict guidelines when handling specimen/devices while performing inventory management functions.
- Performs related shipping and receiving functions of medical specimens/devices to include picking/packing, serial number/lot number verification, package preparation, scanning, courier interaction, tracking of incoming and outgoing shipments, and general follow-up as needed.
- Responds to biorepository alert systems with appropriate follow-up action
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect specimen integrity and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, manager, or director of biorepository operations.
- Performs on-call duties and responses to biorepository alert systems
- Performs equipment monitoring and maintenance on all biorepository related equipment, including bulk LN2 supply equipment.
- Performs quality control checks on all biorepository related equipment • Interacts and updates various databases related to biorepository functions and activities
- Provide administration support by producing various reports and record keeping associated with biorepository functions and activities
- Adheres to strict safety guidelines
- Handles liquid nitrogen (LN2) utilizing personal protective equipment and good safety practices.
- Assist in external/internal audit preparations as required.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures Performs other duties and projects as required
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic.
- Must be detail oriented and able to follow written instructions presented in standard operating procedures.
- Must be proficient in basic skills associated with MS Office applications, especially MS Excel.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and crouch. Must be able to lift at least 54 pounds.
- Onsite position in [City, State, Province]
- This role works mostly in climate-controlled environments in both an office and laboratory setting.
- As a part of daily activities, this role will work with product stored at cryogenic temperatures as low as -198°C
- As a part of daily activities, this role may come in minimal contact with bloodborne pathogens or infectious substances, toxic or dangerous chemicals, and liquid nitrogen.
- At least 1 year of experience in a professional setting
- 1 year of experience in a similar setting preferred.
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate level (AS) degree in chemical, biological, or medical sciences preferred.
