- Supervise department activities consistent with Dynacare's corporate mission and values while supporting the Company's strategic goals and objectives
- Approve and submit timesheets to payroll ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Monitor compliance; collection, preparation, and analysis of department reports and statistics
- Effectively administer human resource programs to help foster an environment of positive employee relations, empowerment and involvement while working in compliance with established human resources policies and practices
- Ensure payroll data from management approved timesheets are entered in an organized, timely and accurate manner
- Process and review payroll ensuring all company policies, accounting policies and legislative requirements are met
- Resolve inquires and complaints from employees and management arising from interpretations of payroll regulations
- Reconcile, verify and distribute payroll as required
- Administer payroll from the input of data, improve payroll tracking as a result of changes in payroll policy
- Troubleshoot payroll issues, prepare journal entries and balance to the general ledger
- Prepare year-end reporting (year-end balancing, T4 reconciliation, EHT reconciliation, WSIB reconciliation, T2200)
- Maintain employee profiles in the payroll system
- Process enrollments, changes, terminations and ensure information is accurate and up to date
- Liaise with Human Resources to ensure all eligible employees are registered on benefits
- Plan administrator for Canada Savings Bonds, including running and implementing the annual campaign
- Maintain current working knowledge of legislative regulations governing payroll practices and employment law and ensure that all payroll initiatives are implemented in compliance with the regulations
- Administer executive payroll and liaise directly with executive group
- Solve payroll issues (i.e. transmittal problems, employee issues, etc.)
- Provide support to Finance in projects to ensure seamless service delivery, operational efficiency analysis across divisions
- Ensure compliance to payroll policies and accuracy of all financial analysis
- Ensure employee files are up to date (CMLTO registration, disciplinary action, offer letters, etc.)
- Assist with financial planning and budgetary control for the department
- Produce statistical and financial reports for Finance, Management and various operational departments and government agencies on a scheduled basis
- Issue and record all confidential accounts payables (i.e. recruitment fees, DOT payments, Garnishes, legal fees, etc.)
- Produce ad-hoc financial analysis for various payroll and employee issues
- Canadian Payroll Designation and previous supervisory experience
- 5 years of related experience required in Payroll field
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (MS-Excel)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with ability to manage multiple projects and respond to changing priorities and deadlines
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to perform under pressure
- Ability to respond to employees and management needs often in stressful situation
