
Analyst, Economic and Financial Assessment

- Conducts comprehensive research and analytical studies and implements major capital projects
- Reviews and analyzes input data for studies to ensure accuracy, consistency and validity. Assists in the development of briefing notes, presentations and reports with analysis and recommendations for investment proposals
- Conducts research, analysis and provides input to other business units and stakeholders on a broad range of transportation topics (e.g. Triple-Bottom Line Cost/Benefit Analysis of transit projects, Prioritization of major Transit/transportation Investments, Capital Planning, international Best Practices in Public Sector Capital Investment, Policy Development, Land Value Uplift and transportation funding / financing); discusses related issues and initiatives
- Facilitates collaborative project development with transportation stakeholders, municipal partners and provincial ministries regarding recommendations for joint policy development and initiatives
- Assesses validity of findings and the implications/relevance to Metrolinx transportation investment objectives and directions and provides recommendations for solutions
- Completion of a university degree in Urban Planning, Economics, Applied Sciences, Transportation, or related field - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Demonstrated years of experience in analytical research and statistical analysis methods and techniques to develop study designs and procedural methods, evaluate study results and recommend transportation concepts
- Transportation economics theory and principles, transportation financial and policy analysis, including project assessment, evaluation and planning processes, land use, transportation planning and transportation modelling
- Data gathering and modeling techniques to conduct and facilitate data gathering and analysis, ensuring validity of data and consistency with government guidelines
