The Outside Sales Representative (OSR) will be expected to act as a passionate and energetic individual contributor with a high drive to succeed and the ability to build strong professional relationships. The OSR will be responsible for ensuring their account portfolio is achieving individual growth objectives whilst contributing to the positive culture of APEX.The OSR’s greatest responsibility is to execute Apex’s sales strategy, creating 3-month to 12-month business plans with the Sales Manager, implementing proven business development processes from the Sales Playbook, consistently meeting KPIs, and achieving an annual volume growth target of at least 25% YoY while supporting Apex’s 95% on-time delivery standard.Duties and Responsibilities:Excel in a team of A playersAssisting customers as they work with APEX on new shapes and orders.Making product suggestions according to the wants and needs of customers.Locating prospective customers, generating them into leads, and eventually converting them to customers.Complete regular weekly sales activity reports to ensure you are on target and review these reports with the Sales Manager.Hold the standards on communication and accountability.Meeting or exceeding monthly sales activity KPIs including prospecting (minimum 3 new targets per week), in person customer meetings (minimum 200 annually, including quarterly meetings for each Top 50 account), and maintaining at least a 40% quote win rate, all tracked and documented in Apex CRM software.Keeping contact lists and following up with current customers to continue building relationships.Area Sales ManagementReview and understand sales growth plans of 25% per year and update progress monthly.Organically win more projects from top 100 customers.Utilize EPICS tracking and reporting, becoming a high-level user.Analyze regional sales and market trends in the industry and identify opportunities for sales outreach and business development.Contribute to the development of business strategy by preparing concepts, proposals and plans on opportunities for sales growth.Proactively execute Apex’s structured Sales Playbook process, including new account onboarding with the Customer Experience team (credit approval, welcome communication, order setup, first order follow-up) to establish strong long-term client relationships.Consistently follow Apex’s prospecting and quoting discipline, including weekly quote follow-up, timely updates in CRM, and verbal follow-ups within 8 business days.Form close relationships with top 25 clients and ensure customer satisfaction by offering personalized support and service.Conduct quarterly account reviews with Top 25 clients, acting as a trusted advisor by sharing industry insights, identifying cross-sell/upsell opportunities, and ensuring Apex is positioned as their most reliable supplier.Develop and maintain professional memberships and partnerships with applicable industry trade organizations.Provide pricing/quoting/lead time guidelines and approvals daily to meet quoting timeline.Collaborate with multiple teams in Apex. Partner effectively with all internal departments such as estimating, operations, projects, scheduling and supply chain in order to assist the business development effort and finding opportunity to work together to improve the overall customer experience.LocationOutside of the office, your duties are to conduct in person meetings with both new and existing clients in your territory.Expectation is to be travelling at least two (2) weeks per month, with all travel requests planned and submitted a minimum of 2 weeks in advance and meetings pre-booked per Apex Sales Playbook guidelines.Required Skills, Experience, and KnowledgeEducation & Backgroundpost-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in outside sales, preferably in aluminum extrusion, metals, manufacturing, or industrial B2B environments.Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of aluminum extrusion processes, finishes, and applications.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and CAD-generated part files.Aptitude for learning and explaining engineering solutions to OEM manufacturers and distributors.Sales CompetenciesProven ability to prospect, develop, and win new accounts while managing existing relationships.Experience meeting or exceeding annual revenue growth targets (20–25% YoY).Skilled in negotiation, objection handling, and closing business in competitive environments.Strong knowledge of account planning, pipeline management, and territory development.Systems & ToolsProficiency with CRM systems for pipeline management, reporting, and forecasting.Competence in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).Familiarity with EPICS, quoting software, or ERP platforms considered an asset.Core SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation abilities.Ability to build trust and act as a consultative partner to OEM and distributor customers.Strong organizational and time management skills, with discipline in weekly planning, reporting, and follow-ups.Resilient and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive market environment.Team-first mindset with a willingness to collaborate across departments to deliver superior customer experience.Other RequirementsValid driver’s license and ability to travel 50% of the time (minimum 2 weeks per month).Willingness to participate in continuous learning, monthly training, and 90-day performance reviews.
