- Overall working knowledge of a datacenter raised floor environment is required.
- Excellent skills in IBM Mainframe Processors including Hardware Mgmt. Consoles & Service Elements. (z9,z10,z11,z12 and z13)
- Excellent skills in IBM Mainframe z/OS Functions including Parallel Sysplex, Coupling Facilities, Sysplex Timers, & STP
- Experience in Facilities Mgmt. related to raised floor environments (power, a/c, airflow) and how to interact within the raised floor environments.
- Experience in working in an IBM z/OS operating environment. All releases of z/OS.
- Experience with a Change/IMAC Mgmt., Incident/Problem Mgmt., and Asset Mgmt. Tools
- Familiarity with mainframe network functionality/connectivity - OSA, Ethernet
- Proficient Problem Determination Skills - IBM Mainframe Processors & Peripherals (Tape, DASD, directors and CPU) Ficon and Escon
- Ability to direct & interact with Hardware Vendors (onsite and remote vendors)
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to interact with Account personnel & mgmt.
- Ability to provide onsite direction and support to the local site support team.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends & holidays to support changes & resolve problems
- Ability to provide 7 x 24 Oncall
- Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks & projects
- Excellent communication skills - verbal, reading, writing
- Experience with hardware types and models that are within a mainframe infrastructure (ie: IBM CPU’s, Client DASD, IBM Tape, Oracle, EMC and Brocade)
- Understanding Configuration Management, which relates to the items below;
- Create/Update/Manage mainframe processor configurations
- Manage/Support HMC configurations
- Effectively communicate/represent hardware/configuration changes
- Review Processor Utilization reports from Capacity organization
- Create/Manage mainframe processors & virtual LPAR entries in an Asset tool
