Workplace Type: HybridAbout our Vancouver OfficeLocated in the heart of downtown Vancouver, between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains, Teck's Corporate Office sits in one of Canada's most culturally diverse cities.Surrounded by world-renowned nature and globally inspired cuisine, the office brings together many of Teck's corporate functions - all working toward Teck's purpose of providing the essential resources the world relies on.Role OverviewAs a member of the Investment Office, the Manager, Investment Governance will play a meaningful role in developing and maintaining an Investment Evaluation Standard and supporting processes, including definition of investment evaluation requirements, analysis techniques, and methodologies used for evaluations. They will also be responsible for the communication and training across Teck of the governance requirements for investment evaluations.The role necessitates strong financial competence, detailed understanding of the mining industry, and skilled collaboration with both technical and commercial teams. This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and travel to office and project locations may be required.Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Develop and maintain the investment evaluation standards, including governance structures and gate requirements applicable to all investment types
- Lead the communication, rollout, and adoption of the investment evaluation standards and related processes across Teck
- Develop supporting investment evaluation processes, analytical techniques, and methodologies to ensure consistency and rigor
- Support the periodic review and update of the Stage Gate Process and Criteria, as well as equivalent frameworks for other investment categories
- Provide training and ongoing support to ensure business units submit high-quality, compliant investment proposals
- Monitor the use of the Investment Evaluation Standard to ensure alignment and integration with related processes and systems
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and propose actions to refine investment governance structures, processes, and systems
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Finance or related subject
- Post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial
- 10-20 years of progressive experience in investment management, governance, or corporate finance within the mining sector
- International experience with large-scale capital projects across the full lifecycle, from scoping and pre-feasibility to execution and closure, with preference for jurisdictions such as Canada, the USA, Mexico, Peru, and Chile
- Confirmed proficiency in technical writing to develop governance materials including standards, procedures, and guidance documents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing board-level materials and presenting to senior leadership
- Proven ability to get results while encouraging long-term collaborative relationships
- High level of integrity, good judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and independence
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable, with a hands-on, entrepreneurial demeanour and a “roll-up-the-sleeves” approach
- Proficiency in Spanish would be an asset
- Availability for travel as needed
