
Medical Technologist - Central Coast, Bella Coola

- Be responsible to provide technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast (Bella Coola/Bella Bella).
- Participate in the planning and coordination of services; monitors the quality of technical work performed to ensure departmental standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Schedule staff activities and participates in recruitment and performance management; trains and coaches team members.
- Facilitate workplace solutions and the implementation of new techniques and procedures.
- Perform a variety of routine/complex tests utilizing manual and automated procedures/instruments, when required.

- Certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
- Bachelor of Science degree or an Advanced Registered certificate or completion of a supervisory/management program plus a minimum of five (5) years’ recent, related experience including two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Regular travel within the Central Coast is required. Expenses will be reimbursed as per the Collective Agreement.
- Comprehensive knowledge and recent related experience in related discipline.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Laboratory Technologists established by the CSMLS and/or other relevant national professional associations.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, medical personnel and other health care staff.

- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Skill in the operation of related equipment and in techniques appropriate to the laboratory.
