A well-established Canadian manufacturing facility in the pulp and paper sector is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to support its maintenance team. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe work practices, efficient scheduling, and high equipment reliability across the mechanical department.The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily work of skilled trades teams, ensuring safe and effective mechanical maintenance across the plant. The role is focused on optimizing planned and unplanned maintenance, supporting workforce development, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Key responsibilities include:
  • Ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely and in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Uphold company policies and maintain adherence to legal and procedural requirements.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of mechanical trades staff, ensuring efficient execution of repairs, maintenance, and preventative work.
  • Collaborate with operations and planning teams to align maintenance with production schedules.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and mentorship to staff, encouraging skill development and engagement.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in reliability, productivity, and team performance.

  • Possess a Red Seal certification, diploma, or degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory role within a unionized industrial setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on collaboration and listening.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and workforce development.
  • Highly organized with the ability to plan, prioritize, and delegate effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada at the time of application.
