Please log in to verify your internal candidate status.Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.The School of Dentistry has been at the University of Alberta since 1917 and is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the College of Health Sciences. The school serves an integral role in educating a part of the healthcare workforce in Alberta and beyond. The school offers undergraduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. We offer graduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Oral Biology, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics and Periodontology. There are 24 Faculty, 42 Academic Teaching Staff (ATS), and over 200 Excluded Academic staff, that are supported by the Student & Academic Services unit. Our Mission: Improving the health of the people of Alberta and beyond through leadership in oral/maxillofacial health care, education, research/scholarship and providing service that is responsive to social need.Responsibilities:This role is responsible for instructional design and instructor support, management of course and program development, and varying student support. The Curriculum Delivery & Instructional Support Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and curriculum delivery; this involves:
  • Partnering with instructors and academic leaders to provide a pedagogical framework to drive course design decisions and promote the "best practices" of technology integration,
  • Providing support to faculty, staff, and students across a multitude of online databases and programs (Google Suite, eClass, Office Suite, Zoom, .med Suite, Campus Solutions, etc.),
  • Coordinating support for projects that will impact and improve the delivery of existing learning curriculums.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand learning objectives and content requirements and provide consultation and support to integrate new technologies into their teaching;
  • Providing consultation to instructors and staff regarding ethical and/or philosophical issues relevant to educational technology (e.g. equity, copyright, plagiarism, privacy, safety, etiquette, and responsible use);
  • Researching and identifying emerging technologies for future dissemination across the faculty;
  • Piloting new technologies within the faculty;
  • Supporting the creation of technical resources for delivery of online, blended and web-enhanced education;
  • Using eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, H5P) to build interactive and engaging eLearning modules;
  • Developing resources (e.g., course materials, instructional videos, online quizzes, etc) to support academic staff development involving curriculum design and delivery;
  • Coordinating and supporting academic staff development through facilitation of courses, workshops, consultation, and observation;
  • Providing consultation from the pedagogical perspective, and troubleshooting support for the design and implementation of digital learning programs like eClass, Zoom, Portfolio.med, MedSIS, Exam.med, etc;
  • Providing consultation services to academic staff on issues related to instructional practices, active learning and delivery of online, blended and web-enhanced education;
  • Coaching faculty on the use of technology to deliver and support instruction (Zoom, eClass);
  • Collaborating with faculty for the development of courses, including the build of courses within digital environments;
  • Supporting the 'Curriculum for Learners' model and teaching and learning framework; - Promote use and awareness of resources, expertise, equipment and facilities;
  • Coordinating and participating in events that promote teaching and learning;
  • Supporting and contributing to the overall administration of all School of Dentistry programs related to; scheduling, exam support and development, and curriculum delivery, as required.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, graduate degree in Educational Technology or related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum two years' experience in instructional design, training, and curriculum development.
  • Experience in a related role (eg. coaching academic staff with instructional or curriculum delivery), post-secondary experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of new and emerging teaching and learning technologies and how to integrate the in to online learning
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Superior writing, speaking, and communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines, multi-task and balance numerous projects while maintaining a perspective on long-term program goals
  • Strong general technology skills with a willingness to learn new tools and software applications
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Peoplesoft tools
  • Experience working with campus elearning tools such as Canvas, Zoom and Yuja. Experience with a web site editing program such us (HTML, CSS, Photoshop, In Design) - Experience with Google apps
  • A high level of knowledge in designing and delivering face-to-face and blended curriculum- An understanding of contemporary best practice in higher education in relation to curriculum design, assessment and assurance of learning
