As our HR Generalist, you will partner with employees, unions, and leaders to provide guidance on a broad range of HR matters, ensuring compliance with legislation, collective agreements, and company policies. Acting as the senior HR presence on-site, you will work independently while supporting recruitment across technical, unionized, and professional roles, mentoring the HR Coordinator, and contributing to key committees. You will coach and influence managers on employee relations and performance management, navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion, and build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.Location:Onsite, Kanata, ONYour Day to Day as our Human Resources Generalist:Organizational Design
- Partner with leaders to optimize team structures and workflows
- Review and update job descriptions to align with evolving business needs
- Support hiring managers in defining role requirements and organizational fit
- Collaborate with managers to plan and execute hiring strategies
- Support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, and interviews
- Lead offer development, including compensation and approvals
- Manage agency relationships, contractors, and workforce planning initiatives
- Support employment equity programs and annual reporting requirements
- Participate in equity committees and maintain compliance plans
- Advise and coach leaders on performance management and employee relations
- Support leave management, accommodations, and workplace policies
- Lead investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations matters
- Partner with union representatives and support collective agreement administration
- Participate in union meetings, grievance processes, and negotiations as needed
- Contribute to HR projects including continuous improvement and system enhancements
- Support HRIS upgrades and drive adoption of self-service tools
- Update policies to reflect legislative changes and best practices
- Analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making and business insights
- Support broader HR programs such as succession planning and change management
- University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- CHRP or CHRL designation strongly preferred
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist role
- Experience in a unionized and federally regulated environment (Canada Labour Code) is an asset
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labour law, and HR best practices
- Proven experience in employee relations, investigations, performance management, and job evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to lead HR projects and drive process improvements
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and HR data analytics
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using data and insights to support decision-making
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on innovation and efficiency
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
