Description :SMS Equipment is seeking Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. In this field service role, you’ll perform on-site repairs and equipment builds for construction machinery while operating from a service truck. If you’re a strong troubleshooter who enjoys diagnosing issues and supporting customers in the field, this is an opportunity to put your expertise to work with an industry leader.Base Wage: $47.41 per hour. Additional premiums apply.
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with overtime and travelWhat You’ll Do

Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy equipment.
Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
Think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
Interpret work order and technical manuals.
Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed.
Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
Work remotely in adverse weather conditions. Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs. Confined Space work is required.

What You BringThe successful candidate will be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with 1-2 years experience working in the field. Other requirements include:

Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy equipment: construction equipment preferred; candidates with agricultural or on-road truck experience may be considered
Strong commitment to safety
Strong written and verbal communication
Some positions may require the ability to travel and meet customer site requirements
Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset
Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset
Valid Class 5 drivers license
