Mill Maintenance Milwright Apprentice

• Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task.
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of stationary industrial machinery under the supervision of a Journeyperson Millwright.
• Help to install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Learn to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Perform routine maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment.
• Assist in diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in machinery and equipment, including power transmission, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Attend all required on-the-job training and complete the necessary coursework, including off-site trades education.

• Industrial work experience in mining or another heavy industry is an asset.

• Self-motivated with track record of successfully working independently.
• Strong commitment to following workplace safety procedures and regulations.
• Able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Strong mechanical aptitude skills.
• Required to wear a half mask respirator for up to 12 hours per shift.
• Physically able to lift equipment exceeding 20 kg.
• Able to work in varied positions and environments for extended periods.
• Able to demonstrate the dexterity and manual skills required to safely use hand and power tools.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
• This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.

• High school diploma, General Education Development (GED), or combination of education and work-related experience.
• Pre-apprenticeship certificate or diploma in Millwright or a related trade is an asset.
