DWB Consulting Services Ltd. is seeking an experienced Intermediate/ Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead environmental projects within the clean energy and transportation sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the environmental components of development and construction projects, environmental assessments (baseline and impact assessments), fish and wildlife surveys, navigating the regulatory process, fostering strong client relationships, overseeing environmental monitoring, and preparing detailed environmental reports.Location: This position is based out of our Prince George, Williams Lake or Fort St. John office.Work Type: This position involves a combination of office and fieldwork with travel to remote locations.Compensation: Compensation is dependent on experience level with expected range of $36 -$65/hr plus travel, professional dues, benefits, vacation pay, RRSP program and year-end bonus.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and within established timelines.
  • Coordinate and supervise field assessments and surveys, including fish, wildlife, wetlands, vegetation, and soils.
  • Liaise with clients and regulators, leading meetings to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
  • Supervise environmental monitors to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and project standards.
Regulatory Compliance and Permitting:
  • Oversee the completion of environmental permitting processes in compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal legislation.
  • Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and study designs for upcoming projects, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
Reporting and Technical Documentation:
  • Prepare technical reports, including the development of management plans and monitoring reports, ensuring the proper documentation of field data and project progress.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and refine environmental strategies and solutions for the projects.
Collaboration and Mentorship:
  • Work closely with construction contractors to ensure that environmental requirements are met during project execution.
  • Coordinate efforts between internal teams, contractors, and external partners to ensure successful project completion.
Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff on effective environmental monitoring techniques, data collection, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications and SkillsEducation:
  • Diploma, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Professional designation (RPBio, RPF, PAg or equivalent) or eligibility to apply within 3 months is a desirable asset.
Experience:
  • At least three (5) years of relevant experience with a preference for 10 years in environmental consulting.
  • Experience working with industry representatives and contractors, managing environmental aspects of their projects.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulatory processes, including municipal, provincial, and federal legislation.
  • Proven experience working in consulting environments, handling various environmental projects.
  • Effective relationship-building, communication, and networking skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, team members, community stakeholders, and First Nations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a proven track record of managing projects and leading teams.
Skills:

  • Strong technical writing skills, including the preparation of technical and scientific reports.
  • Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Office, GIS, etc.), and technical tools required for fieldwork and data analysis.
Additional Skills and Assets:
  • Basic understanding of environmental legislation regarding the protection of fish, wildlife, and birds.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field sites as required.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely (home office).
  • Knowledge of fish and wildlife life history, with practical survey experience.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license.
