The Lab Assistant will be working with client samples providing preparations, extractions and analysis of these samples for routine organic laboratory maintenance parameters tasks and simple analyses.
Specific Responsibilities:Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements;Operate lab instrument/equipment such as pipettes, shakers, centrifuges, pH meters, balances etc.;Perform instrument/equipment calibration and maintenance as required;Perform sample preparation such as weighing sample, sample transferring and sample concentration;Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference material, etc.;Carry out all required data processing (i.e., calculations, data review, data entry etc.);Work in accordance with safety procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act;General laboratory/glassware clean-up and maintenance;General laboratory duties as required (vial labelling, supply restocking, extract disposal, etc.);Produce all tasks within specific turnaround times (TAT);Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMust be capable of working with minimal supervision;Must be well organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team;Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent;Previous Lab experience, full training will be provided.Physical Demands:Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;Ability to stand for a full shift;You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and may require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.Working at ALSThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
