Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Public Health Manager, Assistant Manager or Consultant the Health Promoter, works in collaboration with the team and system partners to address local population health needs and to take action to improve population health and reduce health inequities. The Health Promoter collaborates with partners across multiple system levels to create supportive social, economic, and physical environments that protect and promote health. The Health Promoter champions effective health promotion and fosters cooperation, collaboration, and coordination with and between partners.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor of Health Promotion (or equivalent degree) and 3 years of relevant experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the employer
- Experience in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs, policies, services, and initiatives
- Experience in effectively developing and working in partnerships
- Experience in facilitating public participation and appropriate levels of community
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Core Competencies for Public Health and LEADS.
- Understanding of a population based approach
- Demonstrates success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners to support Public Health work
- Demonstrated team-building skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting with a strong focus on citizen/community
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to deal with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated understanding of the influence of the social determinants of health and health equity on population health
- Experience with or knowledge of supportive resources such as health impact assessments
- Travel will be required. A valid drivers' license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
- Permanent full-time position; 70 hours biweekly
