Our client, a reputable law firm located in downtown Toronto, is seeking an experienced Estate Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and is looking to bring their expertise to a busy, collaborative team.Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, and correspondence
- File court documents electronically (e.g., via CaseLines, Justice Services Online)
- Manage and organize litigation files, including tracking deadlines, court dates, and limitation period
- Prepare and organize materials for examinations, mediations, and court appearances
- Communicate with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel in a professional manner
- Open and close files in accordance with firm procedures
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate dockets and billing records
- Schedule meetings, appointments, and court attendances for lawyers
- Perform conflict checks, file searches, and request certificates of appointment of estate trustee
- Assist with eDiscovery platforms for document review and production
