Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and implementing quality control procedures for Medical Imaging equipment and processes
- Supporting quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across multiple sites
- Collaborating with biomedical engineering and interdisciplinary teams to ensure equipment performance and compliance
- Monitoring and evaluating imaging quality and safety standards
- Assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures related to quality and safety
- Supporting staff education and adherence to quality control practices
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) as a registered technologist, radiological technology (RTR) or certification with The Order of Technologists in Medical Imaging, Radio-Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology of Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) in radiodiagnosis or graduates of a Canadian-accredited program or internationally educated MRTs and are eligible to write the CAMRT RTR or OTIMROEPMQ radiodiagnosis certification exam.
- Three years recent, related experience as a Radiological Technologist, inclusive of two years’ recent, related quality control experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Power Platform tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of quality improvement, quality assurance and quality control in Medical Imaging.
- Demonstrate presentation, facilitation and teaching skills to convey information or transfer knowledge.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging technologists and sonographers established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform quality control on imaging equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate Medical Imaging and Quality Control equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modalities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for Medical Imaging.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
- Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

- Performs quality control following established standard operating procedures. Conducts quality audits to identify program deficiencies. Drafts action plans to address quality deficiencies and return to within established standards. Ensures corrective actions related to any result falling out of the determined thresholds are implemented. Provides follow-up reports to key partners.
- Assists with the development of quality control procedures and documentation with support from subject matter experts. Collaborates with internal and external partners to standardize multi-organization processes and procedures where appropriate and applicable.
- Maintains inventory of systems and equipment under the Providence quality control program. Supports on-line or internal databases related to the collection of quality control and other quality data. Allocates these tools as needed within PHC and organizes database permissions.
- Evaluates current and future accreditation and regulatory standards to identify program risks and develop new documentation and processes to address risks and evolving standards.
- Travels within Providence Health Care (PHC) sites to develop site specific or PHC wide quality control procedures, documents the implementation of procedures and provides feedback to management and other staff.
- Provides teaching and arranges in-services for staff education on quality control. Evaluates training requirements and liaises with management and supervisory personnel to coordinate introduction of new skills.
- Instructs staff and students in proper quality control procedures, monitors compliance and maintains applicable records.
- Demonstrates expertise and provides leadership in quality methods such as consulting with other professionals, attending relevant educational programs as directed in order to maintain knowledge of current developments in quality theory and practice as it relates to Medical Imaging.
- Provides periodic audits related to quality control compliance and ensures PHC stays in compliance with relevant Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP) QC standards and is prepared to provide the documentation required by DAP standards.
- Collaborates with PMIO to help inform the maintenance of the quality control schedule in association with Biomedical Engineering and the Physicist groups. Supports completion of the daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually and annually required quality control procedures.
- Attends meetings on Patient Safety and Quality of Care as required.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Participates in approved special projects related to quality improvement and safety and engages and collaborates with other relevant health care professionals as needed.
