P1: Saturday 1300-1800 plus minimum 1 shift 1600-2000 during the weekP2: Saturday 1400-1800 plus minimum 1 shift 1600-2000 during the weekP3: Saturday 1400-1800 plus minimum 2 shifts 1600-2000 during the weekResponsibilities for Charity Store Security GuardCheck in with the store manager on duty at the beginning of each shift, making sure to receive information on potential issues that have already occurred in the store before their arrival and instructions on how best to be utilized for the shiftMaintain a polite and friendly demeanor, treating every person with courtesy and respectPay attention to high theft, especially aisles containing candy, batteries, gum, electronics and health and beauty productsKeep an eye on the checkout area, even while patrolling the rest of the storeMake sure that there are no customers trespassing in the associate only areas of the storeBe proactive about offering help to any customer who appears confused or in need of assistanceUpon arrival, check in with the store manager or associate for updates on issues. Keep it brief, polite, and professional.Be respectful to all employees, keeping conversations limited to work matters and with management only.Address suspicious individuals or vagrants immediately, politely asking if they need assistance. If involved in illegal activity, escort them out and attempt to recover stolen items. Report to the manager and include it in the end-of-shift report.Acts of mischief (e.g., package tampering, property damage) should be reported to the manager and noted in your report. Use common sense with customers opening packages to inspect products, and involve a representative if needed.Stay alert if the exit alarm goes off. Common causes include theft attempts, cashier error, or devices that trigger sensors. Handle each situation diplomatically to avoid offending innocent customersQualifications for Charity Store Security GuardQualificationsValid Manitoba Security Guard License (as required by the province)Previous security, retail, or loss prevention experience considered an assetFirst Aid/CPR certification considered an assetAbility to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting patrolsSkillsStrong observation and situational awareness to identify suspicious behavior and theft risksExcellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with customers, staff, and managementAbility to remain calm and professional in challenging or confrontational situationsStrong conflict resolution and de-escalation abilitiesAbility to write clear and accurate incident and end-of-shift reportsHigh level of integrity, professionalism, and reliabilityAbility to follow procedures and respond appropriately to alarms or incidentsStrong attention to detail when monitoring high-risk areas and store activity
