This is what you need to know. As a Software Development Manager in Test at Shift, you’ll be responsible for:Lead the design, development, and evolution of cross-platform test automation frameworks (Windows, Mac, web, mobile, APIs & AI etc).Evolve and own Shift’s end-to-end quality strategy across products and platforms.Manage, mentor and coach SDET team, guiding test design, code reviews, and automation best practices.Collaborate cross-functionally with development and product teams to shift-left testing and define testable architecture early in the dev cycle.Identify and prioritize test coverage gaps, creating a roadmap to measure and improve product confidence.Expand and maintain CI/CD integration for automated pipelines (regression, smoke, performance etc).Investigate and implement advanced QA practices such as AI, visual diff testing, test flakiness reduction, and test observability metrics.Lead postmortems for escaped bugs, drive root cause analysis, and propose scalable prevention solutions.Evangelize QA practices and champion a culture of quality across the organization.30, 60, 90 days Key Milestones:By 1 monthGain understanding of Shift’s development lifecycle, products domain and test automation framework.Review and evaluate current test coverage across platforms (Windows, Mac, web) and identify key gaps.Assess the CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure for opportunities to scale and improve reliability.Start contributing to test automation, resolving automation issues and diagnoses of flakey tests.Start participating in release testing and cross-team collaboration.By 2 monthsTake ownership of cross-platform test coverage and start enhancing automation test framework & infrastructure.Collaborate closely with SDETs to improve test design, data management, and reduce test flakiness.Start contributing to CI/CD pipeline optimization and drive reliability improvements by improving stability and runtime efficiency.Lead by example, define and promote automation best practices, conduct technical reviews, and mentor SDETs.Partner with developers and product managers to embed testability into feature design and planning.By 3 monthsYou will have comprehensive knowledge of the Shift products and test automation architecture, enabling you to confidently answer technical questions.Own test automation architecture and oversee the maintenance of automation systems (e.g., integration, UI, regression, release validation etc).Lead QA initiatives on expanding test coverage, automation capabilities, and platform readiness.Ensure release confidence by validating builds through comprehensive QA processes and automated pipeline checks.You are confident in signing off on new releases, as they have passed all our QA processes and automation validation.What we would like to see in youEvery Redbricker has three things in common: We’re curious, passionate, and good-humoured. As a Software Development Manager in Test at Shift, there are extra specialties we’re on the lookout for:8 or more years of experience in software development and automated testing tools (such as Selenium, Cypress, Puppeteer, Playright, etc.).Experience in leading and mentoring a team ideally QA SpecialistsExperience working on automation frameworks for Desktop and Web applications.Experience with web application testing (browser compatibility, responsive testing, etc.).You are familiar with the types of testing including regression, performance, stress, unit, integration, and security testing.You have experience with testing REST API and are proficient in use of API testing tools.Experience with version control systems (Git/Github) and CI/CD tools.Experience with DevOps principles and practices.You have hands-on experience with identifying defects, minimizing steps to replicate and log issues into a defect tracking tool (JIRA or similar ticketing systems)Redbrick and Shift are committed to creating a diverse environment where everyone can be their true authentic selves.
