Casual Recreation Position

• Recreation & Leisure degree or diploma.

• Superior Attendance Record
• 1-3 years experience working within a long term care environment; specifically in the field of Recreation
• Understand and promotes the Resident Bill of Rights.
• Computer knowledge and understanding including, but not limited to training and experience regarding the implementation of RAI-MDS
• Demonstrates leadership, communication, interpersonal and organization skill, knowledge of community resources, knowledge of programs and techniques in recreation, leisure and restoration and development.
• Montessori Certification/ GPA- Certification
• Innovative resident-centered approach to programming.
• Proven ability and desire to work with the elderly; with an emphasis on dementia care.
• Priority will be given to those individuals who have experience working with Alzheimer’s or Dementia care.

• Provides quality recreation programming meeting the resident’s needs.
• Assist the LEM in planning and the provision of quality practice.
• Uses the humanizing elements (pets, plants, birds and children) to work with the residents and ensure they are supported and integrated into the everyday life of the residents.
• Effectively participate in the use of alternative therapies for residents with cognitive impairments.
• Complete all necessary recreation and leisure paperwork.
• Communicate promptly any concerns and issues that arise regarding residents, family members, volunteers and the LEM
• Must be available two weekends per month.
