- Preparation and organization of bottle orders to client supplied specifications, including sample cooler control, storage and maintenance;
- Receives and fills supply orders within strict turnaround times; preparation of the order, pack for shipping and restocking of supplies;
- To list, schedule or otherwise control the supply of pre-scheduled sampling materials or services in support of the laboratories clients;
- Maintenance and organization of the sample prep room, bottle stocks and preservation of sample bottles;
- Proper packing and daily shipping of samples to clients and ALS network labs using appropriate couriers and procedures;
- Ordering supplies and equipment using the laboratory MEOL system;
- Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents;
- Delivering late shipments to couriers and others as required;
- Complete required shipping paperwork and communication with couriers;
- Taking weekly stock counts and ordering supplies;
- Receive client samples according to accepted protocols;
- Unpacking, organizing and prioritizing of sublet samples and client samples received throughout the day
- Verify incoming shipments:
- Ensure subletting and tracking samples are received/sent out in timely manner to help meet TAT;
- Provide customer service to clients and couriers;
- Maintain a clean work area;
- Help train and supervise casual seasonal staff;
- Basic building maintenance;
- General assistance as required;
- Phone duty back-up;
- Follow safety requirements in Safety Manual and communicate all safety concerns or incidents to Safety Rep;
- Working in a team environment that will include covering areas needing assistance;
- Conform to required working hours unless changes approved by supervisor or manager;
- Assist Account Managers with report organizing, mailing and filing;
- Assist Log-in Department with Sample Receipt;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have good organizational skills and be able to handle a fluctuating work load and prioritize work;
- Excellent customer services skills, verbal skills including telephone answering;
- Good computer skills, including email, Microsoft suite;
- Must be well organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Must be capable of working with minimal supervision;
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multitask;
- Grade 12 diploma;
- Grade “G” driver’s licence;
- 1 year + experience in with shipping/receiving
- This position requires a person to sit/stand up to 8 hours per day.
- This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs and carry for short distances
