The Continuing Education department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course ADDICTIONS AND SUBSTANCE USE (351-505-LA).This course focuses on determining effective interventions for addressing dependencies. Students will examine the effects of addiction and substance use by identifying their manifestations, understanding their impact on personal development and functioning, and recognizing legal consequences. The course covers assessing adaptive potential through the use of relevant evaluation tools, identifying strengths and difficulties, analyzing the adaptation capabilities of individuals and their families, and understanding their needs. Emphasis is placed on selecting intervention methods that promote empowerment, including setting relevant objectives, applying prevention strategies, raising awareness of dependencies and their consequences, fostering accountability, and encouraging clean living. Students will also learn about available resources to recommend to their clients.Required Qualifications :Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 3 years teaching experience. Teaching experience in special care counselling or a related program such as counselling or clinical psychology, and work experience specific to addiction and substance abuse client groups are required. A sound knowledge of effective interventions for addressing dependencies and the available resources to recommend to clients is an integral requirement to teach this course.
