Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

- Provide structural design and technical support including calculations, design, design checks, and design drawing reviews from conceptual level to detailed design for large industrial operating facilities, preferably mineral processing facilities.
- Analyze designs for efficiency of construction, use of materials, functionality, and practicality of design.
- Review, check and approve construction and shop drawings.
- Monitor changes and revisions to designs and assess the impact on cost and scheduling.
- Plan and oversee various construction efforts.
- Provide technical assistance to site during construction phase.
- Conduct regular site inspections, to ensure design intent is met and ensure that all rules, regulations, and guidelines are explicitly followed.
- Develop or alter standard project specifications to meet project specific design criteria.
- Monitor and guide design/drafting tasks and oversee the internal checking required on all project drawings.
- Assure the technical quality of work performed by subordinates based upon organizational standards, codes and general knowledge of engineering principles and projects.
- Organize, plans, and coordinate own work as well as the resources assigned on a specific project.
- Partake in and / or lead EGBC technical reviews and internal discipline audits as required.
- Responsible to seal all drawings that have been prepared under their direction as required in jurisdiction where professional designation is recognized.
- Prepare and manage design specifications, RFQ for structural packages and issue recommendations for awards.
- Manage structural packages awarded to fabricators including review and approval of shop drawings.
- Interfacing with Piping, Plant Layout, Process, Civil, Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
- Operating within the company's quality system and safety policy in all phases of assignments.
- Coordinate and work with project team members in Canada and other Wood execution offices across the globe.
- Give effective presentations to customers, suppliers and internally within the organization.
- Lead the technical proposal development effort on behalf of the structural engineering team.
- Coach and mentor less experience engineers and designers.
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree from a reputable university in Structural Engineering with P. Eng. designation in BC.; P.Eng. designation in other jurisdictions is a plus.
- Minimum 12 -15 years of relevant structural engineering experience with various phases of capital and heavy industry projects from studies to detailed design.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mineral processing and mining industry.
- Dynamic analysis and design experience.
- Site experience.
- Experience developing proposal for various phases of capital projects.
- Extensive experience developing capital cost estimates for various phases of capital projects.
- A self-starter with experience leading multiple designers and engineering on schedule and cost driven capital projects.
- Understand North American engineering and design Codes and standards. Understanding South American and European structural engineering and design Codes and standards is a plus.
- Hands-on steel and concrete design experience in mining and mineral processing industry and heavy industrial.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication is an asset.
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
- Strong client management experience.
- Knowledge of STAAD Pro structural analysis, RISA 3D, SAP 2000, and S-Concrete.
- Experience with Mathcad or Excel, Navis Works, AutoCAD, MS Office.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood now or in the future is required.
