- Work with local Health Team Veterinarian to implement the Health Assurance Program that protects PIC supply chain and our customers’ herds:
- Monitor the health and surveillance program for specific PIC’s owned and contract multiplication flows.
- Perform risk assessments of the PIC multiplication flows and support risk mitigation strategy implementation.
- Provide health status information concerning product sources to customers in a timely manner.
- Develop and execute herd health improvement and health clean-up projects.
- Support PIC supply chain farms, including participation in account team projects and initiatives.
- Work with PIC account and service teams as well as customers to assure successful animal health strategies for animal introduction and utilization.
- Support research that advances Herd Health and Biosecurity by leading Health Assurance projects.
- Advance industry herd health through presentation of research results, participation in industry events and professional committees, and networking with producers, veterinarians, researchers, and government contacts.
- Degree of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college.
- Ability to be licensed and accredited in relevant Canadian provinces.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in swine medicine and production, including demonstrated competence in evaluating pig production systems and developing intervention strategies to improve herd health.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with all levels of production systems (owners, senior managers, production managers, technicians, nutritionists, veterinarians).
- Demonstrated experience analyzing technical information, including technical writing and presentation skills, to effectively communicate in an organized and concise manner.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications, including information technology tools for analysis and communication of health and production related data.
- Must not co-habitat or live on the same premises with any person who works with swine and/or with people that are in routine contact with swine.
