- Perform routine raw material testing independently using approved laboratory methods and procedures
- Prepare samples, standardize reagents, and test solutions according to written instructions
- Operate basic laboratory equipment and instruments
- Perform scaled laboratory experiments
- Record test data, calculations, and observations clearly and accurately in laboratory records and electronic systems
- Compare results to specifications and implement required protocol for out-of-specification results, including appropriate disposition
- Extract data, construct charts/graphs and complete quantitative analysis of data to identify trends, draw conclusions and provide recommendations
- Recognize problems and resolve test discrepancies when they occur
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures, including proper use of PPE
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and readiness for audits or inspections
- Assist with equipment cleaning, basic maintenance, and calibration activities
- Develop and write Standard Operating Procedures for raw material testing
- Train and certify associates on raw material testing
- Support investigations, re-testing, and continuous improvement activities as assigned
- Work collaboratively and effectively communicate with quality, manufacturing, R/D and supply chain teams to support plant operations
- Respond to requests for information and data
- Package and ship material to other labs and locations
- Maintain sample preservation of raw materials
- Enter SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Report) and NCRs (Non-conformance Report); complete required documentation and follow up
- Adhere to ISO9001 standards
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific field (or equivalent laboratory coursework)
- Basic understanding of laboratory practices and chemical safety
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow written procedures
- Ability to perform repetitive testing with consistency and accuracy
- Basic computer skills (data entry, spreadsheets, electronic documentation)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on laboratory tasks
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to approximately 25 lbs
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work may involve exposure to chemicals under controlled laboratory conditions
- Internship, co-op, or academic laboratory experience
- Experience working with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Experience or interest in working with data, statistics and graphs
- Knowledge of ISO9001 standards
- SAP knowledge
