
Vessel Operator

- Site / Office based: Terra Nova FPSO
- Hours of work: 12 hours per day
- Rotation / work pattern: Call out, as needed
- Required: Site-specific medical, drug and alcohol testing
- Unionized position: Rates follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Ensure all equipment and cargo is loaded/offloaded from supply vessels in a safe manner
- Ensure all crude oil offloading activities including degassing, monitoring and strainer cleaning of the metering package are performed safely
- Team member for helicopter landing operations including refueling
- Perform weekly checks on life saving and firefighting equipment to ensure equipment is maintained to regulatory standards
- Support personnel movements by FROG to/from supply boat
- Operate forklift or other lifting appliances
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team as a coxswain for lifeboat
- This position, as required, will be responsible for all bridge watch and deck watch activities in accordance with Transport Canada regulations
- Use of SAP to control ordering and management of materials
- Marine and offshore industry experience including marine cargo handling experience
- Preferably 3-5 years related experience in the petrochemical industry
- Working knowledge of Control of Work Processes and Systems
- Familiar with computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP S4
- Effective communication skills (written, oral and computer)
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork behaviors
- Familiar with quality processes and application of Continuous Improvement tools
- Ability to understand and react with diverse groups and operations and work closely with other individuals in a remote setting
- Bridge Watch Certification
- STCW Basic Safety & Survival Craft
- Experience and certificates in Crude oil washing, Forklift Operations, Crane Operations and Helicopter Landing Operations
- Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
- Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Certificate of Proficiency
- Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman
- Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
- Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Marine Basic First Aid
- Transportation of Dangerous goods (Marine and Air)
- Forklift Operations
- Must pass a site-specific drug and alcohol test, as required by the customer
- Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
- Able to move and work in confined spaces, following proper protocol
- May be required consistently to work 12-hour shifts performing physical labour in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May be required to work overtime on occasion
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework, utilizing proper fall arrest procedures when required. Able to safely and comfortably work at heights without posing a danger to oneself or others
- Able to communicate effectively and read/write drawings, permits and safety specific documentation.
- Able to meet physical requirements of frequent walking, climbing, standing, bending, twisting and crawling for the duration of the shift
