We are a global company headquartered in Vancouver, BC, with operations in Bellevue, WA, Dublin, Ireland, Singapore and Redwood City, CA.About the PositionWe are currently seeking a Co-op Student to join the In Vitro Biology team in the Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Therapeutic Development department. The In Vitro Biology group is responsible for the in vitro functional characterization and advancement of ADC therapeutic candidates and platform technologies. The successful candidate will support and perform experimental tasks related to ADC in vitro assessment, critically analyze, and present results, and contribute to the Zymeworks team effort to create clinically and commercially relevant therapeutics.This position reports to a Senior Research Associate II, In Vitro Biology, ADC Therapeutic Development and will be based in our laboratory in Vancouver, BC. The candidate must be available to work on-site without relocation assistance.The hourly wage for this co-op position is $21.00 CAD.What You'll Do
- Performs in vitro experiments for the functional characterization of antibodies, ADCs, and small molecules using flow cytometry, high throughput screening, monolayer and 3D tissue culture, cell growth inhibition assays with various read-out modalities (luminescence, fluorescence, absorbance), and other methods as required.
- Supports and performs mammalian tissue culture, maintaining numerous tumor cell lines using sterile technique.
- Works with team to ensure cell lines are properly expanded, cryopreserved, and databases updated as required.
- Conducts data analyses and prepares data presentations for dissemination in group meetings.
- Adheres to Zymeworks standard procedures for generating, documenting, and archiving data, maintaining an accurate, up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook.
- Conducts all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OS&H regulations and established Zymeworks policies and practices.
- Contributes to a safe and highly efficient laboratory environment through ordering of consumables, preparation of solutions, stocking of consumables, and maintaining a clean working environment.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a related discipline, and successful completion of at least one relevant co-op term is required. Availability for an 8-month co-op term is also required.
- Experience involving mammalian tissue culture and cell-based assays including flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging, Western Blot, ELISA, or biochemical assays to characterize proteins and small molecules would be an asset.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment.
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (ie. Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with or knowledge of GraphPad Prism and FlowJo softwares are considered an asset.
- Basic working knowledge of antibody structure and function.
