- Supervise Instrumentation Team: You would oversee and participate in a team of instrumentation technicians and specialists reviewing contractor ITPS and planning testing and installation programs for construction, and possibly pre-commissioning and commissioning.. Your role involves delegating tasks, coordinating work schedules, and providing guidance to ensure the team's efficiency and productivity in support of the contractor installation plans.
- Installation and Calibration: Oversee the installation, configuration, and calibration of various instrumentation devices, such as pressure gauges, temperature sensors, flow meters, level transmitters, and control valves. Ensuring that instruments are accurately calibrated for precise measurements and control.
- Testing and Commissioning: Coordinate with the engineering and commissioning teams to carry out testing and commissioning of instrumentation systems. Verifying that all instruments are functioning correctly and integrated into the overall control system properly.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all instrumentation systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and environmental requirements. Identifying potential safety hazards and implementing measures to mitigate risks.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Develope and execute maintenance strategies for instrumentation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Troubleshooting and resolving issues with instruments and control systems as they arise.
- Documentation: Oversee maintenance of Contractor with detailed records of all instrumentation activities, including installation reports, calibration data, maintenance logs, and safety assessments thru handover to owner. Ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for audits and reference.
- Coordination with other Departments: Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, quality assurance, operations, and procurement, to ensure smooth communication and coordination throughout the project.
- Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to your team members, helping them enhance their skills and knowledge in instrumentation technology.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in instrumentation systems and processes and implementing necessary changes to optimize efficiency and reliability.
- Emergency Response: Being prepared to respond to emergency situations and providing guidance to your team on handling critical instrumentation issues during emergencies.
- A degree or diploma in instrumentation, electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field is typically required.
- Prior experience as an instrument technician or in a related supervisory role within the oil and gas industry, particularly in LNG or other energy projects, is highly valuable.
- Familiarity with distributed control systems (DCS), Safety instrumented systems (SIS), compressor controls, network communications, analyzers, cryogenic valves, and standard instrumentation installation specifications.
- Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) from the International Society of Automation (ISA).
- Certified Instrumentation and Control Technician (CICT) from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
- Certified Measurement Verification Professional (CMVP) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) for those involved in metering and verification.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or other relevant safety training can be essential
- Possess basic project management skills, including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with other departments.
- Experience with industry codes and standards, such as International Society of Automation (ISA), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), American Petroleum Institute (API), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is crucial for compliance.
- Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Communication/interpersonal skills – interacting with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.

- A valid driver’s license (with abstract) and passport.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site).
