Closing Date: September 10, 2025The Quality Improvement and Innovation Specialist will work closely with front line staff and leadership to help shape new care delivery models that improve capacity, experience and outcomes.Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership for a Stem Cell 2 Transformation project inclusive of development of strategies for space utilization, human health resources and models of care
- Utilizing advanced project management skills to ensure projects are launched in an effective efficient manner
- Presenting key findings to a broader academic community to advance cancer care international
- As member of the Cancer Care Quality and Innovation Team, the Specialist will support the operational excellence portfolio by completing the following accountabilities:
- Lead several large and small scale quality improvement projects through application of proven methodologies eg. Lean methodology, value stream mapping, PDSA cycles
- Complete audits, observations, chart reviews and data analyses to identify issues
- Support the clinical teams in identifying opportunities for improvement and appropriate resolutions
- Assist in the selection, analysis and reporting of operational excellence related performance indicators to monitor the program, and/or unit level performance to ensure alignment with strategic direction. Some of these indicators will be incorporated into UHN/PM Quality Scorecard and the Cancer Centre Quality Improvement Plan
- Work collaboratively with the CQIN Program Manager, Clinic/Unit Managers and Physician Disease Site Leads to integrate clinical best practices, legislative requirements and policies into clinical practice
- Develop and implement communication/promotion strategies that drive change management and encourage engagement of staff at all levels
- Participate in the relevant Committees and administrative tasks to advance quality improvement within the Program; prepare Project Charters and QI waivers
- Provide mentorship, leadership, guidance, and planning for process improvement initiatives through advocating for clinical standardization
- Work with other process improvement and operational leads within other Departments to set a consistent standard for operational excellence
- Completion of a Bachelors degree in a Health related field
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt- preferred
- Advanced Project management skills; PMP preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years practical and related experience in the healthcare field
- Demonstrated experience in leading major change initiatives in a health care environment
- Experience working with physicians and other clinicians is required
- Experience leading Lean transformations at other institutions, healthcare or within industry is required
- Systems design knowledge and application an asset
- Significant applied experience to allow the individual to immediately facilitate events based on their process improvement knowledge and experience. Can translate concepts to a healthcare environment
- Expert in data analysis and visualization; ability to utilise data analytic QI skills eg run and control chart, pareto diagrams
- Experience with driving, managing change on a large scale.
- Previous experience in quality, safety and performance improvement methods is required
- Previous experience with presentations and publications
