We offer an inclusive and accessible work environment where all employees and customers feel valued, respected, and supported.Here’s the job opportunity…As the AVP, Investments, you will lead the identification, review, planning and execution of a variety of tasks and projects aimed at improving the management of ivari’s investment portfolios. These would involve investment, risk management, accounting and actuarial concepts.The primary outcome of the work is to manage day-to-day operations of the investments team, deliver substantive reports and studies that will assist senior management in their decision-making process on a wide variety of investment portfolios.Some of the key responsibilities of this role are to:
  • Investment Strategy: Support and implement investment strategies that align with the company's financial goals and risk appetite.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of the investment portfolio, including asset allocation, risk assessment, and performance monitoring.
  • Asset Liability Management (ALM): Develop and implement ALM strategies to ensure that the company’s assets and liabilities are optimally balanced and that financial risks are minimized.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify investment opportunities and risks and make informed investment decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including LICAT, IFRS, and other applicable OSFI guidelines.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential losses and enhance portfolio performance.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on investment performance, risk exposure, and asset liability management activities to senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments including finance, actuarial, and risk management as well as external partners to ensure cohesive and effective engagement.
What we are looking for…
  • University degree in Finance, Investments, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a related field required
  • An MBA or professional designation (CFA, FRM) preferred
  • 10+ years of related asset liability management or investments experience
  • Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with interest rate risk management and equity hedging
  • Knowledge of LICAT capital requirements is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to meet challenges, goals and objectives with enthusiasm, drive, and initiative
  • Familiarity with VBA, AXIS and/or ATLAS would be an asset
  • Proven ability to develop effective partnerships, focus on common goals and implement integrated solutions
  • Possess leadership skills and ability to help others make the most of their capabilities and recognize their full potential
