A key player in oilseed processing, wheat milling, and feed production, ADM supports local economies and leading Canadian brands.About the PositionReporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Merchandiser will oversee the marketing of finished products and raw materials to maximize financial results. The role focuses on overseeing ADM's soybean/canola meal business in Quebec and the Maritimes, setting strategy and managing risks, while also supporting other markets as opportunities arise.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Merchandiser builds and maintains strong relationships with valuable accounts, seeks new profitable business opportunities, and strives to understand and meet customer needs to differentiate from competitors. They efficiently manage customer accounts and related accounting issues, make quick decisions in a fast-paced market, and monitor local, national, and global market trends.The role involves managing risk, optimizing transportation and logistics, and understanding ADM-owned transportation assets. Proficiency with IT systems, strict adherence to compliance policies, and proactive collaboration with internal teams are essential.The Senior Merchandiser aligns personal goals with company objectives, pursues continuous personal development, understands local plant operations, uses communication channels effectively, and represents the company positively. They also prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports.Required Skills and Qualifications
- Must have a good understanding of the Quebec feed market
- Must have advanced understanding of risk management tools for hedging (futures, forex)
- Ability to excel within a high-risk, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions
- Negotiation, interpersonal skills and analytical thinking
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal & external customers
- Computer skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies & safety programs
- Ability to train others
- University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting)
- Minimum of 5 year of experience in grain and/or oilseeds merchandising. Experience with soybean/canola meal specifically is considered an asset
- A relevant mix of work experience and studies will be considered
- All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada
- Willing to occasionally work outside normal business hours including weekends
- Willing to attend occasional industry events and conduct periodical customer visits
