You will be reporting to one of the AVP’s of Personal Insurance Underwriting Policy. This role will be responsible to support the Personal Lines and Specialty Personal Lines businesses in both the broker and direct channels.This position is responsible for Aviva’s Personal and Specialty Personal Insurance businesses from an underwriting and risk perspective. This position is key to supporting the business leaders within NPI as well as working directly with the front-line underwriting staff & our partners, fostering a positive and dynamic work environment that values people and achieves outperforming results.The position requires strong technical understanding of the personal lines P&C industry. This role will be responsible to support the Personal & Specialty Personal Lines businesses in both the broker and direct channels. The position is accountable to product, underwriting and risk within a collaborative environment identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities.The expectation is to provide a distribution channel aligned underwriting experience while supporting key governance priorities underpinned by a strong risk and control framework.Come join our team!What you’ll do:Work directly as support for the execution of product initiativesWork in partnership with underwriting front-line staff, MGA’s and front-line leaders pertaining to underwriting and workflowsSupports the growth and profitability of a $3.5B+ portfolioSupports the execution of key Personal and Specialty Personal Lines initiatives in pursuit of profitable business growthOngoing and regular reporting on applicable underwriting controlsRelentless focus on consistent and high performing underwriting throughout Personal LinesAssist in the introduction and communication of rating and strategies, coverage and/or product changes in a timely mannerHelp to maximize efficiencies through simplifying business practicesSupport Product/Rate Change Priorities where applicableIdentify Underwriting trends with National UnderwritingProvide training and underwriting calibration with front-line staff to ensure an aligned underwriting experience for both the broker and direct channelsContinuously working to identify areas of concern using trending and industry developmentsIdentify discrepancies between distribution channels and work to ensure an aligned experience and workflowStrong communication capabilities to ensure accurate messaging of information flows both to the front-line staff and to Personal Lines underwriting managementDevelop strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners designed to support and drive outperforming resultsComplete Technical analysis, provide advice and support for: Pricing, Underwriting & Product Development, Systems, DigitalWhat you’ll bring:University degree and/or College DiplomaAdvance degree and/or professional qualification preferredMinimum 6-8 yrs. experience in the Property and Casualty business (emphasis on Specialty related products is an asset)5 years Technical Underwriting experience including an understanding of the P&C regulatory environmentPrior experience with project initiatives in a leading or supporting roleFrench speaking is an assetStrong relationship building skillsTrack record of successful delivery of various high priority initiatives under tight timelinesStrong Strategic visionExcellent analytical skillsComplex problem-solving skillsOutstanding interpersonal skillsAbility to collaborate with and influence key partners to achieve resultsWhat you’ll get:Compelling rewards package including base compensation, eligibility for annual bonus, retirement savings, share plan, health benefits, personal wellness, and volunteer opportunities.Exceptional Career Development opportunities.We’ll support your professional development education.Competitive vacation package with the option to purchase 5 extra days off per yearEmployee driven programs focused on gender, LGBTQ+, origins, diversity and inclusionCorporate wellness programs to support our employees’ physical and mental healthHybrid flexible work modelPlease note that we may use AI tools to help us through the recruitment process.
