Seeking a caring kind and curious person to visit my elderly father once a week for coffee and walks

Posted by:Active: Hour agoI am seeking a compassionate, kind, and curious individual to provide regular company to my elderly father, who is currently residing in the Hamlets' long-term care wing. This part-time, live-out position involves visiting him at least once a week, primarily during mornings or early afternoons from Monday to Sunday. My father is an avid walker and a regular visitor to the nearby Starbucks, which is approximately one kilometer from his residence. Part of your responsibility will be accompanying him on these walks, ensuring his well-being along the way, and engaging him in hearty conversations over coffee. In instances of adverse weather, it would be required for you to drive him to his favorite coffee shop in Duncan, using your car. The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in senior care and preferably some experience working with dementia patients. As my father has dementia, always ensuring proximity to a restroom is one of the key considerations when accompanying him on these walks or outings. Although he has a cancer diagnosis, we are currently focusing on comfort care, rather than treatment. Occasionally, you may also be asked to assist him with some basic troubleshooting tasks, such as operating the television remote control or using his mobile phone. The main goal is to provide him with enjoyable companionship and occasional assistance, with his comfort and safety being the utmost priority. The preferred start date for this role is on the 11th of September, 2025, and it will require less than 20 hours per week. It is essential that the candidate possesses a valid driver's license and will require the use of their own car for any necessary outings or trips. If you think you meet these requirements, and are looking for a role that not only provides companionship to an elder but also has the potential of forming meaningful connections, then this position is perfect for you. I look forward to discussing your experiences and suitability for this role. Please note this is not just a job, it is making a difference in the life of an elderly person who appreciates company and small acts of kindness.MoreSalary $35/hourLess than 20 hours/weekScheduleDesired start date Sep 11, 2025MorningAfternoonEveningOvernightMTWThFSaSuCaregiver is responsible forProfessional skillsPlan Visits, Outings, & Trips to Visit Neighbours, Friends, FamilyWilling to work with or have experience withWork with diagnosesDementiaAdditional requirementsValid driver's licenseRequired to use own car Active: Hour ago • Member since: September 2025Address
