This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.Cook's Assistant, Seniors Health Centre
Your goal in this position is to prepare food and serve residents, patients and staff. You have the ability to operate institutional cooking equipment and you have the knowledge of quantity cooking and standardized recipes. You are well organized and are able to work independently.On a practical level, you will
  • Prepare and/or portion sandwiches, salads, nourishments
  • Supply or service the hot/cold counter with the complete menu selection
  • Store prepared/leftover food properly ensuring Occupational Health and Safety and sanitation standards are met
  • Cook and heat vegetables, soups, entrees, and desserts etc. as per cycle menu and computer production forecasts
Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Public Health Food Handlers Certificate
  • SHC: Food Service Worker Certificate
  • Cook Certificate
  • Works safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset

This is a Part-Time Unscheduled position, 8 hour shifts, days and evenings, including weekends, in the Seniors Health Centre/Food Services. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
