- Leadership of the cross-functional Operations Finance team
- Oversight and responsibility for the accuracy and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual operating results
- Oversight and responsibility for the review of annual operating budgets and forecasts, which includes supporting long-term financial forecasting for the Company’s operational expenses and associated Regulatory processes
- Supporting Senior leadership to meet financial goals and identify cost savings initiatives
- Working with various cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives while maintaining effective financial controls
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams across the organization.
- Providing ongoing strategic business and financial support to the operational managers of business units.
- Supporting the on-going development of an inclusive culture within Finance and across NS Power.
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting and a CPA designation
- Minimum of eight years in an accounting and/ or finance role, with a minimum of three years in a leadership role
- Knowledge of technical accounting concepts as well as a broad understanding of enterprise financial risk, corporate governance, and process and control design
- Experience with review of detailed analytical work and financial models, possessing strong quantitative skills and Excel skills
- Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead a team of dedicated financial professionals to deliver their maximum performance in a rapidly changing and fast paced environment
- Excellent financial leadership, relations management, team building, conflict management, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in a regulated utility will be considered an asset.
