- Responds to client's requests that are entrusted to him/her with respect to quotes and renewals of group insurance contracts.
- Takes an active role in ensuring retention of all treaties as part of clients quotes and renewals activities. Approves or recommends changes or alternatives to client's suggestions when needed.
- Conduct in the underwriting reviews, provides recommendations and comments, prepare audit reports to client's intent.
- Addresses needs of clients in a timely, proactive and professional manner, advising senior management of any business issues impacting Munich Re and/or the client, makes recommendations and takes action to resolve concerns.
- Draft treaties and amendments.
- Reviews, proposes and approves changes to Group Underwriting guidelines and practices of our clients.
- Prepare quote proposals, provide required analysis and develop recommendations and solutions that maximize growth and profitability.
- Provide Group underwriting expertise in the development and amendment of reinsurance treaties.
- Works on the maintenance of Group pricing basis and services offer for all markets.
- Provide knowledge and support to other team members including actuarial, medical underwriting, claims and senior management, assisting them in managing the client relationships.
- Prepare reports of the operations and activities of the team and business.
- Acquire and maintain advanced knowledge of product and market trends, current Industry issues, relevant legislation changes, and underwriting best practices.
- Develop and maintain Group underwriting tools and methodologies, manuals and guidelines, market databases and comparative reports.
- Support with the research, development, and implementation new products, benefits, features and distribution strategies.
- Maintains a high profile within the underwriting community and develop network of contacts to gain market intelligence, promote the expertise of the company and influence practices and procedures within the industry.
- University Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Finance.
- 7+ years in-depth knowledge and experience in the Canadian and/or Group Life and Health (re)insurance industry.
- Fluency in English required; French is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen with a proactive, goal-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Highly organized with superior attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- Decisive and confident in making tough decisions while fostering collaboration and challenging appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver accurate, high-quality results.
