- Establishes clear objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of Alberta Education, and communicates these objectives to students via the teachers’ lesson plans
- Instructs using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus for teaching students with distinctive experiences and motivations, including multimodal teaching strategies.
- Provides learning opportunities so students are able to see themselves as the innovators, scientists, inventors, engineers and technology experts of tomorrow.
- Observes students' performance, behaviour, social development, and physical health.
- Establishes and models expectations for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom we are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies governing students.
- Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Supervises engaging class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, as appropriate, and guides students in learning from such activities.
- Effectively uses technology to support the learning process.
- Supervises recreational and other activities as appropriate, to promote physical, mental, and social development.
- Performs supervisory duties, as assigned, such as hall, recess and playground monitoring, and bus loading and unloading when applicable.
- Works collaboratively with any support staff or multidisciplinary team members that may be in your classroom
- Performs other related tasks as appropriate, including organizing materials, displaying students' work, as assigned
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
- Competitive full day or half day rate will apply
