• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on railcars and locomotives.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and determine corrective action.
• Conduct repairs on engines, brakes, couplings, suspensions, HVAC, and other mechanical systems.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults in mechanical components.
• Replace worn or defective parts using appropriate tools and methods.
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and other fabrication work when required.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance work, and parts used.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and railway regulations
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff, and supervisors to resolve issues.
• Respond to emergency repairs or on-track breakdowns when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
• ? Accurately document all maintenance, inspections, and repairs using computer-based systems.
• ? Enter parts usage, work orders, fault codes, and inspection results into digital maintenance management software (CMMS).

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in mechanics preferred.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a rail, heavy equipment, or industrial setting.
• Knowledge of railway systems, mechanical assemblies, and regulatory standards is a plus.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.
• Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, and on rotating shifts if required.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy parts and perform manual labor.

• Work is typically performed in a rail yard environment.
• Exposure to loud noises, grease, oil, and moving machinery.
• May require travel to remote locations for field repairs.

• Journeyman certification in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanics (Red Seal in Canada is a plus).
• Valid driver's license.
• Railway Safety training or certification.
