- Operate the rollers and other heavy equipment in a safe manner
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
- Determine the speed and direction of the machines so that ridges do not form from excessive pressure
- Use hand roller or portable power roller to pound surfaces not accessible to road roller.
- Operator self-propelled steel-wheeled, rubber-tired, vibrator, segments or other type of roller to company earth, subgrade, sub-base and asphalt surfaces.
- Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Roller.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees, sub- contractors and consultants to adoptsafety as a culture.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
- Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics
- Other quality control related duties as required.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Class 5 Drivers License preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience within the road construction industry
- 2-3 years experience operating Breakdown Roller, Rubber Tire Roller and Finish Rollers is required.
- Weather dependent schedule of Monday to Saturday, consisting of up to 12 hours. Overtime is paid in accordance with local employment standards legislation.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
