- Support and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with ASPE
- Assist with year-end audit, review, and tax requirements
- Oversee job costing across residential construction and land development projects
- Review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and margin recognition
- Monitor cost-to-complete estimates and overall project profitability
- Partner with construction and development teams to analyze variances and cost trends
- Support budgeting and forecasting across projects and communities
- Monitor corporate and project-level cash flow
- Prepare construction loan and mortgage draw submissions
- Ensure compliance with lending agreements and reporting requirements
- Act as a key user for Sage 300 and Homefront systems
- Support system enhancements, integrations, and automation initiatives
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and processes
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and scalability
- Review work prepared by junior team members
- Provide mentorship and day-to-day guidance
- Partner closely with the Controller and step in as needed
- Contribute to building a strong, collaborative finance function
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience within construction, real estate, or development environments
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project accounting
- Hands-on experience with Sage 300 and/or Homefront (asset)
- Advanced Excel skills
- CPA designation or working toward CPA (preferred)
- Experience with construction lending, mortgage draws, and covenants (asset)
- Exposure to multi-entity environments and system improvements (asset)
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of business operations
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with non-finance teams
- A clear and confident communicator
- Proactive, hands-on, and takes ownership of their work
