Compensation: $18-22 per hour + applicable gratuities
AI Disclosure: Your application will be reviewed by our hiring team – we do not use artificial intelligence in the screening or selection of applicants for this position.What you will be doing:As a Prep/Line Cook at the Good Earth, you’ll play a key role in ensuring ingredients are prepped, organized, and ready to go for smooth and efficient service. You’ll work closely with the culinary team to support daily kitchen operations and deliver high-quality dishes, from large-scale events to restaurant service, all while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, portioning, and measuring
- Assembling basic components for dishes and assisting in batch preparation for banquets and events
- Following recipes, portion standards, and prep guidelines with accuracy and consistency
- Preparing and cooking menu items using a variety of cooking techniques depending on the event or service style
- Working closely with the culinary team, assisting with banquet plating, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations and timely service
- Ensuring all prep areas, equipment, and tools are cleaned and sanitized throughout your shift
- Properly labeling and storing food items to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and support inventory control
- Communicating any shortages, quality concerns, or equipment issues to kitchen leadership
- Upholding all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines
- Participating in end-of-day clean-up and restocking for the next shift
- Contributing to a positive team atmosphere with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Experience with banquet, catering or high volume kitchen environments
- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
- Safe Food Handler's Certificate (Required)
- Culinary Trade Certification or Read Seal (an asset)
- A passion for food and a drive to do your best every shift
- Reliable transportation required
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and event based hours
