The Opportunity:We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Tailings Engineer to join our clients growing and collaborative team in Mississauga, Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to help drive innovative and sustainable solutions in the field of tailings, mine waste, and mine closure. You will play a key role in a multidisciplinary team focused on advancing integrated approaches to tailings and waste management in the mining sector, with an emphasis on geotechnical excellence and holistic problem-solving.What You'll Be Doing:Lead and contribute to the design and analysis of tailings storage facilities at various stages, from conceptual to detailed engineering and construction.Prepare and review trade-off studies, engineering reports, drawings, and technical specifications for mine waste management projects.Conduct and guide geotechnical analysis related to slope stability, seepage, settlements, liquefaction potential, and pore pressure generation.Utilize geotechnical modeling tools (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W) to support tailings design under both static and dynamic loading conditions.Coordinate and manage field and laboratory investigation programs and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring.Provide on-site support during construction including drilling supervision, in-situ testing, installation of geosynthetics, and assessment of subgrade compaction.Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate engineers within the team.Develop technical proposals and cost estimates.Collaborate with geotechnical, hydrotechnical, geochemical, and process engineering specialists across global teams.What You'll Need to Be Successful:Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering; post-graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario.10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical or tailings engineering.Strong background in geotechnical field investigations, lab testing, and tailings construction oversight.Proficiency in geotechnical software (GeoStudio Suite or Rocscience), Excel, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.Experience or interest in scripting (Python or VBA) is considered an asset.Strong communication skills in English (French proficiency is an asset).Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, international team environment.Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.Valid driver's license and passport.
