Construction Health & Safety Coordinator (CoSS – CNESST)Location: Downtown MontrealOverviewWe are seeking a proactive and experienced Construction Health & Safety Coordinator (CoSS) to oversee health and safety practices on a major construction project in downtown Montreal. This individual will play a key role in ensuring full compliance with CNESST regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across the site.Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the designated CoSS in accordance with CNESST requirements on the construction site
  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific health and safety programs and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable CNESST regulations , standards, and company policies
  • Conduct daily site inspections, hazard assessments, and risk analyses
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for workers and subcontractors
  • Coordinate prevention activities and promote a proactive safety culture on site
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions
  • Work closely with project teams (Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors) to ensure safe work practices are maintained at all times
  • Maintain proper documentation, including safety logs, reports, and compliance records
  • Act as the main point of contact for CNESST inspectors and ensure readiness for site audits
Qualifications & Requirements
  • CNESST CoSS certification (mandatory)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a similar health and safety role within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec construction safety regulations and CNESST standards
  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects (institutional, residential high-rise, or commercial)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic construction environment
  • Bilingualism (French required; English is an asset)
