
Maintenance Technician V – HVAC / Refrigeration Mechanic - Surrey, BC

- Identify malfunctions and undertake routine repairs or recommend those of greater complexity.
- Perform complex maintenance and repair work and prepare records related to the work.
- Rebuild equipment and calibrate gauges and controls.
- Operate and adjust control systems and their integration with the BMCS (building management control system and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies.
- Check work for conformance to schedules and technical standards. Keep up to date on all HVAC and equipment related laws, guidance, and regulations (such as ASHRAE, CSA, IECC, NFPA, UMC, COHSR, NECC, IMS, HRAI etc.).
- Install, maintain and repair existing fixtures and components (such as 600V VAV reheat units and associated controls, multi pipe chilled/hot water fan coil units and associated controls.
- Provide advice on installations and fixture upgrades.
- Receive and count materials, equipment and supplies advising of shortfall when required in order to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Assist in all facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
- If physically capable, remove snow and ice from sidewalks when required to meet Project Agreement time requirements.
- Participate in a call-out rota system to assist the Company in responding to emergency situations as required.
- Within the facility, escort visitors, contractors and others as required.
- Comply with the Company's Policies, Management Plans and Procedures.
- Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.
- Support the Company's Quality Policy Statement and actively participate in the achievement of Company and personal Quality objectives.
- Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service.
- Is authorized to work in Canada.
- Ability to pass the required Security Clearance Check (CPIC).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain enhanced security clearance with the RCMP (Reliability Status security clearance).
- Inter-Provincial Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic Ticket.
- Inter-Provincial Journeyman “B”: Gasfitters Ticket.
- Extensive knowledge of material system, methods and equipment used in facility maintenance work.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safe working practices and applicable regulations in Facility Management in accordance with Work Safe Regulations
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting PLC control systems.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory standards of maintenance and to implement predictive and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision and be collaborative in dealing with fellow employees.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with customer by being customer focused and responding promptly to customer needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with lead-hand, co-workers and customers avoiding unnecessary conflict.
