- Ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all facility systems.
- Applying appropriate methods and precautions for the safe handling of radioactive materials.
- Cross‑training to operate multiple facilities safely, efficiently, and competently.
- Performing related duties appropriate to the assigned level of the position.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Honours Bachelor's in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing, or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualifications for membership in that organization.
- Experience
- More than 10 years of experience working in Licensed Nuclear Facilities Operations, and more than 5 years of experience working in Rod Bay Operations.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex operating challenges and implement both short and long-term remedies to allow continued safe operation of these facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and to respond to challenging schedule demands.
- General knowledge of nuclear, mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Must have demonstrated excellent written and oral abilities.
- Ability to be self-motivated and driven.
- Must be comfortable in performing work within a highly regulated industry.
- Willing to obtain or attend further job-related training and accreditation.
- Demonstrated good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and to respond to challenging schedule demands.
- Must possess a high sense of individual responsibility.
- Knowledge of process, mechanical and electrical systems operations and maintenance practices.
- Basic knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, and coordination of resources.
- Basic knowledge of procurement and financial processes.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- This position is part of the CRPEG union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in their Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
- Work in moderate radiation hazard environments where personal protective equipment is required. This can require standing to provide guidance on work for extended periods of time.
