By working together in service of our mission, we push the limits of human imagination and transcend the ordinary.Job Description:About the RoleReporting to the Sr. Director, Assistant Corporate Controller, the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting will lead a team in ensuring various aspects of IMAX’s accounting, reporting and month-end close cycle are accurate, complete, and efficient. You play a key liaison role between teams within the Finance & Controllership group to carry out routine and ad hoc activities, while also serving as a business partner for the broader IMAX organization to assess accounting impact, provide guidance and analytical support. You will be expected to lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, while ensure strict reporting timelines are successfully achieved.What you’ll be doing:Manage the internal monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.Lead the Corporate Accounting team in delivery of key aspects of the month-end close, quarterly and annual reporting in a US GAAP, public-company environment.Work collaboratively with other Finance teams (Financial Reporting, Inventory & Film Finance, A/R, A/P, Treasury, FP&A) and corporate departments (Business Development, Theater Operations, Information Systems, etc.) to drive organizational success.Analysis and review of IMAX’s various revenue streams, including monthly finance income, joint revenue sharing arrangements, rent and maintenance revenue, etc.Monitor status of customers and amend revenue recognition accordinglyReview and approve joint revenue sharing arrangement transactionsAssess and post impact of fluctuations in foreign exchange, including hedging, on GL and sub-ledger balancesDocument impact of amendments on existing contracts and ensure the impact has been communicated to all relevant individuals within the broader finance function.Review various balance sheet account reconciliations and schedules including but not limited to Cash, Prepaids, Accrued AR, Fixed Assets, Long-term Receivables, CECL, Other Assets, and Deferred Revenue.Review and manage preparation of the financial statements for owned and operated entities.Prepare analyses and other tasks related to new business transactionsAssist with intercompany account reconciliations and prepare related journal entriesMonitor premise leases and document accounting treatment of new leases or lease renewalsPromote a culture of continuous improvement, review and optimize department workflow, facilitate user communication and cross-training.Provide mentorship and guidance to a team, leverage experience and best practices to develop and grow internal talent.Assist with internal and external audit requestsLead special projects and other areas in the Finance group as requiredWhat we’re looking for:Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalentDesignation in Professional Accounting (CPA, CA)Minimum 7-10 total years of experience in a large/global organization or public accounting firmMinimum 3-5 years’ experience in a managerial role with direct reports in a large/global organization or public accounting firmProficiency in U.S. GAAP preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsHighly efficient, with strong attention to detailAbility to stay focused on tasks while meeting tight deadlinesAbility to understand complex contract termsAdvanced working knowledge of Microsoft ExcelSAP experience is an assetAt IMAX, you will be part of a culture built on respect – we are committed to creating a welcoming and diverse atmosphere across our organization.For consideration, please apply online.
