Description$40-45/hrWe are seeking a Japanese Translator / Interpreter to support communication between Japanese technical staff and the local team. The successful candidate will provide real-time interpretation during meetings and daily operations and assist with translating technical discussions, documentation, and day-to-day communications for four technicians arriving from Japan.This role is critical to ensuring clear communication, smooth collaboration, and efficient workflow between the visiting technicians and the local workforce.Key Responsibilities
Interpretation & Communication
Provide live interpretation (Japanese ? English) during meetings, technical discussions, and daily team interactions.
Facilitate clear communication between four visiting Japanese technicians and local staff.
Interpret conversations on the production floor, during training sessions, and in operational meetings.
Ensure accurate translation of both technical terminology and general workplace communication.Translation Support
Translate written materials including technical instructions, safety procedures, emails, and operational documentation.
Assist with translating reports, schedules, and project updates when required.
Ensure translated information maintains accuracy and context.Operational Support
Act as a communication bridge between the Japanese technicians and local teams to support smooth daily operations.
Assist with clarifying technical processes, equipment discussions, and troubleshooting conversations.
Support onboarding and orientation of visiting technicians when needed.
Coordination
Attend daily team meetings, planning sessions, and operational briefings to provide interpretation.
Communicate any potential language barriers or misunderstandings to management.
Maintain confidentiality regarding company operations and technical information.Qualifications
Fluent in Japanese and English (spoken and written).
Proven experience in translation or interpretation, ideally in a technical, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
Strong ability to interpret conversations in real time with accuracy and professionalism.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to dynamic discussions.
Strong attention to detail and cultural awareness.Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Japanese technical teams or engineers in a workplace setting.
Familiarity with technical or manufacturing terminology.
