Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for a new Lead Hand position based in our Facilities, Maintenance & Engineering (FM&E) Operations department at Chinook Regional Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has their Journeyman trade certificate, and several years of experience in building maintenance using a Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS). This position oversees a wide range of trade-related duties associated with maintaining, renovation, repairing and construction in accordance with AHS standards and practices. You will be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance work for equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance for the hospital's utilities systems. Many of your responsibilities as the Lead Hand - Trades includes supervising FM&E staff and day-to-day activities, assigning work to other journeymen staff, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring safe work and departmental policies and procedures are followed. Excellent project coordination, communication, and organizational skills are required as you will be the first line of contact with vendors, contractors, lead hands, and project managers to review and resolve issues and coordinate maintenance activities. In addition to functional supervision, you will perform a wide variety of journeyperson level trade duties associated with maintaining, renovating, repairing and construction in accordance with AHS standards and practices. You will assign work of journeyperson and supervise staff and perform ongoing maintenance work in an area of assigned trade or related responsibility. In addition, you will provide health and safety training and orientation and ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Certificate in trades from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Additional Required Qualifications:Class 5 Drivers License. Must possess an Alberta Journeyman Certificate in a relevant trade or a two-year Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited college. Journeyman Electrician, Temperature Control/HVAC or Industrial Mechanic preferred. Knowledgeable about the Infection Prevention Control CSA-Standard. A minimum of 5 years post certification experience working in an applicable maintenance environment is required. Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience, e-Facilities. Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards and certifications as they apply to hospitals. Computer experience in MS Office. Preferred Qualifications:Five years maintenance experience in a hospital setting is an asset. Building Management System (BMS) experience. Delta Controls. Working knowledge of applicable building systems, hospital situations, hospital non-medical equipment and specialized areas. Previous supervisory or lead hand experience would be an asset. Prior experience in supervising/managing a multi-trade team in a Lead hand or equivalent role.
